Norwegian adventurer Jarle Andhoey, leader of two unauthorized expeditions to Antarctica, was intercepted by the Chilean navy on his latest return from the icy continent, his spokesman said Monday.
“Armed soldiers are on board the boat,” which has docked in Puerto Williams, on Chile’s extreme southern tip, Rune Olsgaard said in Oslo.
After slipping away from New Zealand authorities who wanted to block him from returning to the Ross Sea, Andhoey and four other men headed back to Antarctica in late January to discover the fate of comrades lost in a first expedition last year.
