A new hydrogen-powered outboard prototype from Yamaha Motor Co. will be displayed at the Miami International Boat Show in February 2024.
In the company’s effort to be more environmentally conscious, Yamaha said in a statement that they plan to become carbon neutral in Scope 3 emissions by 2050. Per the Environmental Protection Agency these emissions are, “the result of activities from assets not owned or controlled by the reporting organization, but that the organization indirectly affects in its value chain.”

Like many marine brands, Yamaha is looking to renewable and sustainable energies to create new technologies. Just last year, Yamaha partnered with Toyota to develop a hydrogen-fueled V-8 engine.
