Each year, the Union Internationale Motonautique — powerboating’s international governing body — sponsors a photo contest. As you can see from this selection of entries from the most recent contest, the UIM favors boats that take air. We thought something that was more Top Gun than Top-Sider might get the adrenaline going as you prepare for your own summer adventures aboard.
Paul Lakatos won a silver award for his shot of a fleet of tunnel boats. Simon Palfrader won gold in the Retouched category for his peek into the cockpit. Paul Engelstadt nabbed a bronze for his beauty of an airborne RIB. Palfrader’s photo of a cockpit canopy and hatch won gold in the Atmosphere category. Heinrich Sauer’s image of a RIB awash in surf took a silver in the Endurance category.
