Nautical photographer Onne van der Wal and his wife, Tenley, spent the past two years refitting Snow Goose, their 1986 Grand Banks 32, with the goal of taking her south for the winter. On October 16th, the van der Wals began the 3rd leg of their journey through the Chesapeake Bay. The Chesapeake Bay is the largest estuary in the U.S. and offered them beautiful sights. The van der Wal’s witnessed the changing leaves, fishing communities, shipyards, seabirds and much more.
The gallery below captures some of the highlights of leg 3 in pictures. Soundings will cover Snow Goose’s run south, leg by leg, as she continues down the ICW and makes her way over to the Bahamas.
