Hornblower has expanded its Bridgeport, Connecticut, operations on the Long Island Sound and rebranded the facility as Steelpointe Shipyard by Hornblower. The company now owns and operates a 17-acre site, up from 1 acre, offering full-service maintenance, refits, haul-outs and storage for commercial vessels, yachts, and recreational boats.

The expanded shipyard features 45,000 square feet of indoor space, three marine travel lifts capable of handling vessels up to 700 tons, a 220-foot service dock and a skilled trades team for welding, joinery, piping, mechanics, electrical and painting. Deep-water access to the Sound supports on-site design, engineering and emergency repairs.

A new division, Hornblower Marine Yachts specifically serves recreational boaters with comprehensive yacht maintenance programs, refits, seasonal haul-outs and indoor/outdoor storage. Other divisions provide propulsion repair, vessel management, consulting and lifecycle support, making the shipyard a one-stop resource for private and commercial vessel owners.

“Boat owners now have access to the same expertise previously reserved for commercial fleets,” said Junior Volpe, senior vice president of vessel construction and repair. “Our expansion combines large-scale capability with personalized service tailored to yachts and recreational craft.”

Located on Bridgeport’s historic waterfront, Steelpointe Shipyard by Hornblower positions the city as a full-service hub for vessel owners across the East Coast, blending decades of maritime experience with modern facilities and deep-water access.
