A Florida boat owner stood on Keewaydin Island in the early morning hours Sunday, watching a storm rapidly approach.

He and the 15 other people with him on the island expected a cold front to swoop through Naples on Sunday, but not this early.

“We’re loading up the boat and, all of the sudden, you could see the storm coming,” the skipper said. “The temperature dropped like 15 degrees and it just started pouring. That’s when we made the decision to leave our stuff and get inland.”
