In Boston, state police were working to recover a boat that was sunk Saturday night when an allegedly drunk operator struck a rock, causing the vessel to sink in Boston Harbor.

Massachusetts State Police said they responded to Boston Harbor at 7:18 p.m. on Saturday to a report of a 50-foot Sea Ray that was in distress after hitting a rock between Spectacle Island and the Long Island bridge.

The state police marine unit responded within minutes, and helped get everyone off the boat as it was sinking.

The skipper, however, was charged with boating under the influence of alcohol, according to CBS Local News.

To the south, a pair of Florida fathers are facing charges after they allegedly drank heavily and accidentally allowed their children to float away in a boat.

According to the arrest affidavit, the four children on board became scared for their safety while out on the boat trip with their dads because of how much they were drinking.

The kids told Fort Pierce police their dads pulled the boat onto a beach, then went for a walk along the shore, leaving the children unattended on the boat, according to a report by WPBF News.
