A man involved in a Fourth of July hit-and-run accident in Oklahoma that left two children injured and a man dead turned himself in on Monday.
Troopers say a 1999 Crownline 20-foot ski boat driven by Ryan Shumway crashed into two other boats anchored together on Lake Eufaula during the holiday, according to News 9 in Oklahoma City.
Gary McIninch, 55, was thrown overboard and went missing after the crash. His body was found on the lake Saturday night.
Shumway’s wife and two children, ages 10 and 8, were on his boat at the time of the collision. They were not injured.
McIninch’s granddaughters were injured when the oncoming boat smashed into the family’s pontoon boat. Brianna Foster, 7, and Tori Foster, 6, both of Oklahoma City, were transported to Oklahoma City hospitals via Life Flight helicopter. The girls, who were on the pontoon boat, suffered leg and head injuries, respectively, according to Tulsa World.
One of the girls is still recovering at Children’s Hospital.
