At first it looked like possible insurance fraud, but upon further examination it seems likely no one did anything wrong regarding the boat that recently turned up in Florida’s Lee County.
The boat’s original owner reported it as a total loss after it was destroyed in Louisiana during Hurricane Katrina. Lee County deputies were told the owner’s insurance company paid a $6,000 claim on the boat, a Contender center console. Now the insurance company is wondering how the boat ended up registered to someone living in Lee County.
