There’s getting a steal on a boat, and then there’s literally stealing one. The latter still appears to be a popular method of getting a boat in Florida.
The latest National Insurance Crime Bureau report shows Florida, with 1,114 thefts, had more boats stolen than any other state. This is the third year in a row that Florida tops the list, which is not that surprising since the Sunshine State, Michigan and California have more registered boats than other states. However, in Florida, boat theft occurs at twice the rate of California, which is second on the list with 483 boat thefts.
This story from Florida’s Patch.com provides more details on the report and includes boat theft prevention and insurance tips.
