A 52-year-old Ohio woman recounted her ordeal last weekend of falling off back of her 32-foot powerboat and watching from the water as her husband continued motoring off into the distance.

“I was screaming at the top of my lungs, ‘Please, God, don’t let me die like that,’ ” Amy Nearhood told the local press from her home in Temperance, Ohio.

Bobbing in the lake more than a mile offshore, she had to make a decision.

“For a brief moment, I thought, ‘You can either let it go and not fight, or you could pray to God,’ ” she told the Detroit Free Press. “And all of a sudden, I felt such a calmness. I saw light in the distance, and I thought, ‘You’ve got to swim.’ “
