City commissioners in Sarasota, Fla., proposed new rules Monday that will restrict where boaters and live-aboards can drop anchor in Sarasota Bay.
Commissioners signaled they want to protect the privacy of waterfront homeowners by forbidding boats from anchoring within 150 feet of coastal homes for more than 12 hours. Commissioners also said they favor a three-month time limit on a boat at anchorage. After the time is up, the boater would have to find a new spot.
