Rep. Frank LoBiondo, R-N.J., last Friday introduced the Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Act of 2011 (H.R. 2838) to authorize appropriations for the Coast Guard for fiscal years 2012 through 2015.

If enacted into law, the bill would authorize approximately $7 billion annually for the operation and maintenance of the Coast Guard for 2012 through 2014.

Of that, $24.5 million is authorized for each of the fiscal years to be derived from the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund to carry out the purposes of section of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990.

The bill was referred to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
