Various Coast Guard units around the country responded to a variety of mariner distress calls last weekend.
• The Coast Guard suspended its search Sunday for a fisherman after a vessel capsized approximately two miles north of Provincetown, Mass., that morning.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England, in Woods Hole, Mass., received a call from the lobster boat Glutton, reporting that the 42-foot fishing vessel Twinlights, home-ported in Provincetown had capsized with two fishermen aboard after becoming entangled in fishing gear.
Fishermen aboard the Glutton were able to rescue one crewmember.

• The Coast Guard also suspended the search for two missing crewmembers Saturday evening following a platform explosion approximately 20 miles southeast of Grand Isle.
Coast Guard crews searched a 1,400 square-mile area for more than 32 hours in an effort to locate the two missing crewmembers.

In the Mid-Atlantic, the Coast Guard rescued two people from the Shallotte Inlet Sunday after their flat-bottomed skiff capsized near Shallotte, N.C.
A good Samaritan contacted Coast Guard Station Oak Island watchstanders via VHF-FM channel 16 at 12:15 p.m. reporting a capsized boat with two people in the water wearing life jackets.
“It was definitely a good thing that we were already on patrol in the area where the boat capsized,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class
Leonard Posluszny, the coxswain aboard the RB-S from Station Oak Island. “We found the two people clinging onto the overturned vessel.”
