A New Zealand couple wrecked their yacht in the Caribbean Sea and were rescued after swimming to safety and getting help from the Venezuelan Coast Guard.
The couple had spent the last two years sailing around the world and were making their way home to New Zealand when their boat struck a reef off the Venezuelan coast.
Their boat is a total loss after being wrecked on the reef.
The couple had been travelling with another yacht, but were out of VHF range at the time. A mayday call was sent but went unanswered, according to a report by New Zealand press.
