A two-day diesel engine course that precedes the opening of TrawlerFest in Baltimore in September is filling up quickly.
Demand is high for the Sept. 23-24 event “Everything You Need to Know About Diesel Engines,” according to PassageMaker, organizer of TrawlerFest, which will be held Sept. 25-28 at the Harborview Marine Center.
PassageMaker and Soundings are owned by Active Interest Media.
Presenting the course will be Niger Calder, a marine engine expert and author, and Steve Zimmerman, the owner of four boatyards in Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina.
Calder and Zimmerman will coordinate representatives from three major engine manufacturers —Cummins, Volvo and Yanmar. They will man three stations, each with an engine, and attendees will cycle to each station to perform hands-on exercises and learn the differences among engines. Calder also will discuss gensets, Zimmerman will talk about repowering, and other industry experts will give mini-presentations about maintenance monitoring and warranty.
The program will conclude with a panel discussion and questions from the audience.
