A private Napa, Calif., company says catamaran-style ferries can accommodate 750 passengers, travel about 20 mph and cut down dramatically on fuel and emissions.
Wind+Wing Technologies has approached San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge transit district about replacing the agency’s diesel-ferry fleet with new wind-powered catamaran vessels, starting with a possible test run of the technology in April.
