Thirteen people were injured in a flash fire on a boat that was refueling at a marina on Maryland’s Solomons Island.
The 38-foot powerboat was fueling at Spring Cove Marina about 6 p.m. Saturday when something ignited it, according to a statement from Solomons Volunteer Fire and Rescue.
The cause is under investigation, although police say the fire likely resulted from a spark from electrical connections at the bilge pump while gasoline vapors were still in the engine compartment.
None of the injuries are considered life-threatening, the fire department told local news outlets.
