Is there anything better than a blast of sea air against your skin on a sweltering summer day? Nope, and it seems Formula doesn’t think so either. The builder just revealed plans for an addition to its line of Super Sport Crossovers, the series that combines a fast ride with a full cabin and open bow.

The 380 SSC joins the Formula Crossover fleet between the 330 and 350 Crossover Bowriders and the 400 Super Sport Crossover and the 430 SSC and 430 All Sport Crossover models. Like its siblings, the new 380 is based on Formula’s deep-V performance hull, and it will be powered by a pair of brawny sterndrives: standard 430-hp MerCruisers or 520-hp Mercury Racing engines as options. Sterndrive power will be popular with people who boat on big lakes, and others in saltwater who like the wide swim platform that comes with I/O propulsion.

Most notable about the 380, though, is the way it combines a cabin for four passengers with a single-level deck. There is a seamless transition from the cockpit to the bow, through a unique slide-open windshield. With the 380, Formula takes the oversized dayboat to the next level. The 380 will officially debut at the Norwalk Boat Show in September.

The boat is scheduled to make its debut at the fall boat shows in the Northeast.
