A 1,668-pound female great white shark has been spotted off the coast of Panama City, Florida, which is a rare occurrence and is giving researchers more information about great white shark behavior.
The shark, nicknamed Miss Costa by researchers from OCEARCH, a great white shark organization, was tagged off Nantucket, Massachusetts, in 2016.
Although great whites are known to visit the Gulf of Mexico, little is known about their behavior there, so the visit by Miss Costa has researchers pretty excited.
