Helmsman Trawlers has begun building its largest trawler yet. The 46 Expedition Pilothouse will be powered by a 493-hp Cummins diesel that should provide a range of 1,500 nautical miles. Bow and stern thrusters will be standard. A raised pilothouse includes two high-backed pedestal helm seats and an L-shaped settee with table. The flybridge features a similar setup. The salon will have room for two large freestanding chairs and a convertible U-shaped dining settee. The galley will feature a Force 10 range, double sink, a double-drawer refrigerator, double-drawer freezer and microwave. The 46 has two staterooms below, both with queen-sized berths and heads with showers. According to the builder, the 46’s salon rivals that of boats in the 55-foot range. The 46 will be almost 52 feet LOA. The builder’s website hints that a 54 Pilothouse could be on the way.
