You may recognize him from his roles in Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but actor Marc Evan Jackson is also a boat aficionado. During his childhood in a suburb near Buffalo, New York, Jackson became fascinated by Maine windjammers.

As a 13-year-old, Jackson recalls writing captains, asking to be a deckhand aboard the schooners even though he had zero experience. They turned him down, but as an adult in 1993, he got a gig on a boat and was invited to be the first mate on the schooner Mercantile in Camden, Maine. When his acting career took off, Jackson strayed from the water but his love of windjammers never died.

Late last year, Jackson became a partial owner of the windjammer Grace Bailey, which is based in Rockland, Maine. He plans to be aboard the Grace Bailey during certain trips to help attract customers, but also to raise awareness of the seafaring history of Maine.
