Jeffrey Mayor, a staff writer for The Olympian newspaper in the Pacific Northwest, always fancied himself a fairly skilled angler. When he hatched a plan to recruit several buddies – novices to fly fishing – for a day of boating and fishing, he found out that serving as a de facto fishing guide is not as easy as he believed.
