If you’ve been around boating and/or sailing for 20 or 30 years, chances are you know who Don Street is. The well-known marine author, credited with as many as 300 magazine articles and dozens of books and cruising guides, cruised and wrote about his journeys on Iolaire, a classic yawl he famously paid $100 for and fixed up and outfitted on his own.

Sadly, Iolaire this week ended up on the rocks off the Mediterranean island of Ibiza and is considered a total loss, according to this article in Classic Boat. The boat ended up on the rocks while running downwind at around 2 a.m. Everyone onboard is safe after the accident. Iolaire was left broken into many pieces.
