Le Boat, Europe’s leading operator of self-skippered boating vacations, is introducing a new travel experience for 2016 called “Boating Flotillas.”
Available on selected departure dates, the Flotillas offer travelers the opportunity to “captain” their own cruiser and join a group of fellow boaters, which will follow a Le Boat guide on the same itinerary through the waterways in and around Venice. The guide will help plan the itinerary, organize optional group activities and provide assistance to new boaters, if needed. The guide will also be on hand to suggest places to see and visit en route as a group or independently.
In addition to exploring Venice and the Venetian Lagoon, Flotilla participants can visit attractions such as Jesolo Lido, a picturesque area that boasts more than eight miles of beaches. Often called the “Venetian Riviera,” it lies on the banks of the River Sile and the Cavetta canal. Boaters can also explore nearby Collio Goriziano, a winemaking area in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region. At the crossroads of Europe’s Latin, Germanic and Slavic cultures, the area produces some of the most unique, predominately white wines whose varietals include Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia, Istriana, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon Blanc, among others.
“A Le Boat Flotilla is really the best of both worlds,” said Shannan Brennan, Le Boat’s head of Distribution and Marketing, U.S., Canada and Latin America. “Boaters can be as independent as they want, while also enjoying the expert assistant of our knowledgeable and experienced guides. No boating experience or license is required for renting a boat. We provide instructions and an orientation to first-time renters, ensuring they get the most out of their boating holiday.”
