Amid a debate about presidential hopeful Marco Rubio’s finances, a new tidbit emerged — Rubio is a boater and likes to fish offshore.

After a New York Times article detailed the Florida Republican senator’s financial past, saying he had splurged on a “luxury speedboat,” Rubio’s spokesman Alex Conant sent Politico a link to the boat, which media outlets have described as a fishing boat, a sailboat and even a yacht.

In fact, Rubio is the owner of a 24-foot EdgeWater 245CC deep-vee center console.

Rubio’s campaign said his boat purchase included two new 150-hp 4-stroke Yamaha engines, a relatively standard amount of horsepower. According to eBay, each engine could cost as much as $16,000 — making the value of the boat hull itself less than $80,000.

Rubio told a friend that he splurged on the boat after getting an $800,000 advance on a book deal, according to Politico.

He said the boat fulfilled a dream.
