The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, Md., is seeking volunteers to assist with on-the-water activities, as well as critical support functions in the Museum Store and administrative offices.
New volunteers join an active corps of 200 participants, and are treated to educational and social opportunities throughout the year.
Volunteers are needed to serve as captains and crew aboard the museum’s passenger buyboat Mister Jim. Participating captains take part in a three-part training program, pass a physical agility review, participate in a drug screening program, and complete a one-on-one screening with the boatyard manager. Volunteer captains must also hold a current, 50-ton Coast Guard captain’s license to participate.
