Westport, Conn., police captain Sam Arciola was off the clock and fishing with his buddy Saturday on Long Island Sound when he saw something wrong with a passing 47-foot pleasure boat.
The solo skipper seemed unaware of black smoke bellowing out of his engine compartment as he waved to the recreational anglers.
A quick response proved to be just in the nick of time.
