The premiere issue of CharterSavvy, an online magazine devoted exclusively to bareboat chartering, was recently launched by F&F Publishing.
Free to subscribers, each quarterly issue has in-depth stories and photography about bareboat charters worldwide.

The editorial team of self-proclaimed “charterholics” is led by journalist and charter expert Chris Caswell, a well-known veteran of boating publications.

“Bareboat chartering is a fast-growing niche in boating that isn’t being addressed by the mainstream media,” Caswell says. “Because of the economy, some people have given up their boats — at least temporarily — but still savor the boating lifestyle on bareboat charters. Bareboat charters are also an enjoyable way to sample the boating delights of foreign countries without investing months or years in a long cruise.”

The first issue, which reached an audience of more than 35,000 dedicated boating enthusiasts, has features on bareboat adventures in the British Virgin Islands, Greece, the San Juan Islands of the Pacific Northwest and canal barging in France. Each issue also features a sea trial of a boat popular in bareboat fleets. A product feature, Cargo, examines items of interest to bareboat charterers.

Regular columns and departments cover bareboat topics such as health, finances, cooking aboard, charter news and insider tips on chartering.

“After years of print publishing,” Caswell notes, “it’s a pleasure to be able to take full advantage of the digital medium with superb photography and features up to 10 pages with none of the constraints of printing costs. I’m also delighted by the initial acceptance from our advertisers, who quickly grasped the concept even before they’d seen a single issue.”
