The Coast Guard is searching for a recreational boater aboard the 36-foot sailboat Arcturus who departed Kauai on Dec. 17 and was expected to arrive the next day on Oahu, but has not been heard from.

Coast Guard Sector Honolulu personnel were notified at 3:15 p.m. Dec. 24 that 66 year-old Ira Foreman was missing.

An HC-130 Hercules airplane search crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point was launched at 7 a.m. Sunday to search for the missing mariner.

The sailboat Arcturus is described as having a white hull, white sails, no name on the transom and four portholes on both sides of the cabin.
