Six people were rescued Thursday morning from a boat burning off the coast of St. Augustine, Fla., according to the Coast Guard.
The boat, named Treehouse, was 35 miles off the coast when it caught fire. The Coast Guard was dispatched to that location for rescue.
“At that point we checked the safety hatch on the engine room and it was all in flames,” John Fields, a passenger on the boat, told News4Jax.com. “So two went to the bow of the boat, we did have a life raft and we started activating the life raft and putting it in the water. All of this was in five or 10 minutes, and the boat was already in flames coming out of the side.”
