Three people are safe and one was pronounced dead after a 24-foot pleasure boat began taking on water Friday and capsized about five miles east of Cape Porpoise, Maine.
At approximately 3:10 p.m., Coast Guard Sector Northern New England command center watchstanders received a mayday call via channel 16 reporting they were taking on water and could not keep up with the flooding with the hand pump they had on board.
The Coast Guard and two good Samaritan vessels responded to the sinking boat.
