Island Cove Marina and Resort in Harrison, Tenn., was devastated last week by a suspected tornado, with 30 to 50 boats overturned.
Agents with the Environmental Protection Agency were contacted and dispatched. A fuel spill was also reported near the Tennessee River marina, leading to a Coast Guard closure of a section of the river near Harrison Bay, according to media reports.
“You could see the funnel cloud. … It was there, and then two minutes later it was gone,” witness Steve Rayborn told a local television station. “The docks are 75 percent gone. … The roofs are all gone.”
The marina is located just north of Chattanooga, at mile marker 477.5 on the Tennessee River. The business also sells Tracker Boats.
