The Coast Guard reports a fishing boat rescued two people who abandoned their sinking 72-foot motoryacht in the Strait of Juan de Fuca on Washington state’s northwestern coast.
Chief Warrant Officer Robert Schmidt says the Canadian men abandoned the vessel for a skiff as the yacht went down amid uncontrollable flooding.
“They’re not happy about losing the boat, but happy to be back on land,” Schmidt said.
