Spear fisherman Johan Potgieter was diving about 62 feet beneath the surface off the coast of South Africa when one of the region’s alpha predators — a great white shark — became extremely interested in him.
Potgieter’s mounted camera documented every second in a clip that plays out with all the drama of a Hollywood movie.
You may have heard Potgieter say to his team, “Did you see it almost ate me?”
You may also have heard his muffled screams as he prods the shark away with his spear gun.
“I had to show some dominance back to him to avoid being bitten,” Potgieter writes in the YouTube video description, The Daily Mail reports.
