One of the most popular fish for anglers along the Northeast coast is striped bass.
And it’s shaping up to be a good season, as this video shows. A New York charter captain posted it last month.
Capt. Paul Peluso, of Mama Mia Fishing, fishes a 28-foot 2007 Baha Cruiser out of Moriches Inlet on the southeastern shore of New York’s Long Island.
He and two other anglers were in 30 feet of water about a mile west of Smith Point Beach when they were treated to a close-up of a whale breaching before what would be a productive day. The trio boated and released 45 stripers ranging from 20 to about 50 pounds.
The guys are rightfully giddy as they land fish after fish, and their enthusiasm is infectious. Makes you wish you were on board.
