Fire, fiberglass and gasoline have conspired to create some combustible moments aboard boats of all types.

Once fiberglass catches fire, it can be difficult to extinguish. And the longer it burns, the more likely it is that the fuel system will help things along.

We found this video showing a skipper’s rather innovative way of putting out a boat fire. The person who posted it says the boat caught fire on Lake Lyndon in New Zealand and drifted ashore. The skipper had abandoned ship.
