A group of New Jersey anglers got a thrill earlier this season when a great white shark estimated to be 16 feet long circled their boat for 10 to 15 minutes.

The men had been fishing for shark when this huge surprise came gliding up their chum slick. “I never dreamt I’d see one in the flesh,” angler Rob Pompilio told CNN. He said they were so excited they had a difficult time filming the shark with their smartphones.
Pompilio told the interviewers it was just like something he’d expect to watch on the National Geographic Channel on location in Australia or South Africa — but not New Jersey.
