Investigators said an 81-year-old Connecticut man was killed last week when two boats crashed off the coast of Westerly, R.I.
A 60-foot Princess yacht and a 25-foot Parker powerboat collided off Napatree Point about 10 a.m. Tuesday.
The Coast Guard said one of the boats involved was in the Newport (R.I.) International Boat Show, which took place during the previous weekend, and was traveling west to the Norwalk (Conn.) Boat Show, which was held this past weekend.
The Coast Guard said it is investigating whether rough seas contributed to the crash.
Officials said the operator of the smaller boat, 81-year-old Walter Krupinski of Stonington, Conn., was killed. His boat capsized, and officials pulled his body from the water.
Officials said the man was face-down in the water by the time rescue crews made it out to the boat, according to a report by NBC 10 News.
