Ruweida V, a Starling Burgess R-Class boat built in 1926 at George S. Lawley & Sons in Neponset, Mass., is worth a trip to the New York Yacht Club Race Week at Newport all by herself.
She’s 38 feet overall, 25 feet on the waterline and 7 feet, 3 inches across the beam. Lawley double-planked her with mahogany on cedar over white oak frames.
She’d been on the hard at the International Yacht Restoration School for some time before she found someone to rescue her. As you can see, she’s worth every hour of labor.
You can catch up on the past weekend’s racing in photos and video by visiting the New York Yacht Club Regattas on Facebook or by entering the keywords nyyc race week 2016 on Google.
