We’ve all seen countless videos of Coast Guard rescue swimmers making the impossible look easy.

Dropping into storm-roiled waters in gale-force winds to pluck some hapless mariner from near certain death is just another day at the office for these rescue crews.

This training video that the Coast Guard recently posted shows the point of view of victims in the water, waiting for the cavalry to come swimming to their aid.

Boaters should take every reasonable safety precaution before leaving the dock, but it sure is comforting to know that these guys are out there.

The video was filmed May 4 off the coast of Newport Beach, Calif., with a GoPro camera. The training gives pilots, rescue swimmers and flight mechanics an opportunity to practice rescue techniques to simulate real distress situations.
