A young seal recently delighted two surfers by joining them for a session in the waves off Northumberland, England.

The guest climbed onto one of their boards, then spent the next hour cavorting and distracting the duo from the wave action they paddled out to chase.

“It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Matt Stanley, 23, told The Mirror newspaper. “We had been in for about 45 minutes when the seal came along. I’ve seen them there before, but they are usually far away. I admit we lost interest in the surfing for a bit. I’ve never seen a seal that close up, never mind one sitting on board.”

The video from the GoPro camera mounted on Stanley’s board had no audio, so we added some appropriate music.
