A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew medevaced an ailing mariner from Deep Bay, 25 miles north of Sitka, Alaska, last week.
Once a rescue swimmer was lowered onto the ship’s deck, the medevac operation moved swiftly.
The crew safely hoisted the 68-year-old man, who was reportedly suffering chest pains, from the Western Profit, a 62-foot charter fishing boat, and transferred him to Sitka Community Hospital. There was no report on his condition.
Weather at the scene was reported as mild, with 5-mph winds and 3-foot seas.
