Conditions on the East River weren’t ideal for the State University of New York Maritime College sailing team to fine-tune their technique, but that wasn’t the point on this day.
The weather on April 2 — winds of 28 to 30 knots — prompted the crew to hook a towline to a sailing dinghy and let the wind power a rider upriver.
In the boat is crew Matt Romanuski and skipper Andreas Adam, with Zach Hill in tow. All goes well until the rider apparently forces a jibe.
Despite the wipeout, it looks like it was a good way to make the most of the conditions.
