As the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race headed toward the Windward Passage, which connects the Caribbean Sea with the Atlantic Ocean, on June 2, the race was tight.
Garmin was at the top of the leaderboard, 0.36 nautical miles ahead of Derry~Londonderry~Doire and 0.6 nautical miles ahead of LMAX Exchange.
The race is a 40,000-nautical-mile trek sailed in eight legs on identical 70-foot yachts, each with a qualified skipper provided by the organizer. No previous sailing experience is necessary to crew.
