In this video, a rescue crew – possibly from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution – launches off a wave in heavy surf and capsizes.

There are few details about whether the crew was training or if they were responding to a distress call, but it’s a sobering reminder about what can happen to even the most experienced boat operators.

The organization is credited with saving more than 140,000 lives since it was founded in 1824.
