Three of four boaters who died Sunday off the coast of Santa Cruz Island when their vessel capsized were identified Monday afternoon. The body of a fourth boater was not located.
The men’s bodies were spotted Sunday after their 24-foot boat capsized near the island, part of the Channel Islands chain. Crews recovered three of the four bodies Sunday and resumed the search Monday for the fourth body.
“There was some chop in the area, so somebody moving in the boat the wrong way could capsize the vessel,” said Coast Guard Petty Officer Adam Eggers.
