Nordhavn, the builder of passage-making yachts, announced the addition of two new models to its line, the Nordhavn 625 and the Nordhavn 71.
The new N625 will employ some of the same bulk production techniques used with the N41 and N51 builds. The hull will be based on the hull of the Nordhavn 55 and the Nordhavn 63. More than 100 of the hull’s three iterations have been sold. “It’s been a solid performer for us,” Nordhavn co-owner and chief of design Jeff Leishman said. “I believed doing an update would provide us with another outstanding derivative.” Leishman has been injecting a more modern exterior and sleeker look to the company’s models.
The N625’s flybridge and cabin windows will be slightly bigger than on the N60, and seating has been added to the foredeck. Like the N60 and N63, the N625 will have three cabins – two below and one behind the wheelhouse.
The boat will be built by Nordhavn’s partner factory, South Coast, at their brand-new Taiwanese facility. South Coast, which also builds the N60, went to Taiwan in part to combat the Chinese tariff.
The N625 will take a nod from the Turkish-built N41 and N51 designs by utilizing a more production-like approach to ordering. It will have more standard equipment and features, although it will not include a tender or soft goods. The N625 will be more customizable than her smaller sisters, but not as customizable as the 60 and 63.
The N625 will lay up in May, with the first boat to be built at the Taiwan location. It is expected to complete by the end of 2021. Hull number 3 is being offered at $2.5 million.
The Nordhavn 71 is a new hull, created for those who want the aesthetic of one of Nordhavn’s larger yachts while having the ability to manage without crew.
Leishman says the N71 is a response to the third generation Nordhavns that were built in the early 2000s. The 71 will be available in two layouts: a three-stateroom layout with skylounge, or a layout that incorporates a fourth stateroom in place of the skylounge. She will be built to the strictest CE Certification standard for offshore use.
The N71 will have a big dining room and larger windows. Like newer Nordhavns, she will be offered with more standard features and include a credit for furniture so buyers can choose their own chairs, dining table and pillows to create a more individualized yacht.
The N71 will be constructed at the Ta Shing yard in Taiwan, where the N68 and N76 are built. The first N71 hull is expected to begin construction in January of 2022 and will cost about $5 million.
For those with smaller budgets or desiring a smaller boat, last year, Nordhavn started building the twin-engined N41 in Turkey. The N41’s 75-hp engines have a combined burn of less than 1.5 gallons per hour at 7 knots, giving it a theoretical range of over 4,000 nautical miles from a 900-gallon fuel tank.
