Cameras rolled as the Danish train ferry MF Aerosund II was intentionally sunk in early October off the coast of Svendborg, Denmark.

The 181-foot ferry dates from 1960 and was originally used to transport railway cars to and from Svendborg.

The ferry now will serve as an artificial reef and dive site at the South Funen Archipelago and is expected to draw tourists from across Europe and the globe.

The effort to scuttle the ship has been considered one of Denmark’s largest tourist-related projects and has been met with much opposition over its environmental effects.
